Euro-Mediterranean University

The Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) was established in 2008 as one of the priority projects of the Union for the Mediterranean. The university is based in Piran, at Kidričevo nabrežje 2. EMUNI is an international association of universities that brings together more than 130 higher education and research institutions from over 30 countries in the Euro-Mediterranean region. EMUNI’s mission is to contribute to the development of a high-quality and interconnected Euro-Mediterranean higher education and research area and to strengthen intercultural dialogue, scientific diplomacy, and sustainable development in the region. The university strives to become a reference point for the exchange of knowledge, innovation, and cooperation among Mediterranean countries, thereby contributing to peace, prosperity, and understanding among peoples.

Study programs and activities:

• EMUNI offers internationally accredited master’s and doctoral study programs and professional training programs in cooperation with partner universities in Slovenia and abroad.
• The study programs focus on current challenges in the region, such as sustainable development, water management, intercultural dialogue, innovation, and science diplomacy.
• In addition to its study programs, EMUNI organizes scientific conferences, summer schools, workshops, and other events that promote networking and cooperation among students, researchers, and experts from different countries.

Network and cooperation:

• EMUNI is a dynamic and inclusive network connecting universities, research institutes, and other higher education institutions from Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Since 2025, EMUNI has also been a partner of the EUNICoast alliance, which connects 12 coastal universities in Europe.
• The university is a platform for joint research projects, the development of joint study programs, and the exchange of students and professors.
• It actively cooperates with European and international organizations and supports the development of innovative solutions to challenges in the region.

EMUNI Master degree Study Programmes

The Euro-Mediterranean University does not offer undergraduate (first cycle) study programs. However, it offers all interested parties the opportunity to continue their education at the postgraduate level.
